From 2005 until 2015, Melbourne had a weeknight home for the alternative party animal - and that was NEXT. A Thursday night institution for those into this culture, NEXT served as the melting pot for the huge alternative lifestyle within Melbourne and surroundings, giving birth to the burgeoning band scene that has delivered Australia some of the biggest touring acts now making their way around Australia (and the world!). Along with that, each and every week, NEXT’s resident DJ’s served a dose of the sickest punk, party, metal + more tunes to hundreds and hundreds of party goers!

With Melbourne nightlife changing, NEXT was forced to close it’s hallowed doors in 2015. However in 2016, due to demand to give the people… give the people what they want… NEXT returned BY POPULAR DEMAND, at the same venue - The Colonial Hotel - but on a Friday night to give everyone the chance to party hard and not suffer on a weekday workday.

Fast forward to 2017, and and it’s time to bring it BACK once again - NEXT returns on Friday May 19th, and we’re bringing the old school to the new school with 5 Bands, 8 DJs, 3 Levels of Metal, Punk & Party, and the return of some of your favourite old school host lists. We’ve got 28 DAYS joined by ADMIT ONE, JOIN THE AMISH, RIVAL FIRE & LETTERS TO AMARA, and old school NEXT favourite “BEAT THE BAR” returns.
