Come take a trip through history, as we explore this genre that we love – DANCEHALL…Starting with 80s foundation through to current sounds straight out of Jamaica and the world.

JUNGLE CITY DANCERS will be showcasing the dance moves and fashion of different decades , and our selektors will be bringing you the best riddims, artist and tunes from the different decades.

Focusing on the early rub-a-dub vocal styles of the early 80’s and delving deep into the rough and rugged digital sounds that started taking over the dancehall sound systems in the mid to late 80’s – OPERATOR ANDY will be showcasing this decade’s diversity of riddims and vocal styles. Jamaican born, ZARE DEMUS, grew up on 90s Dancehall. The riddims and artist that defined dancehall to the world are in his blood and make up his musical foundation. Many people regard 90s dancehall as the best and most iconic era for the genre, from the International success of artists like Shabba Ranks and Patra, the distinctive sounds of Cutty Ranks, Ina Kamozi, Super Cat, Buju Banton and the rough and ready aggression of Bounty Killer and Lady Saw. The 90s also saw the rise of dancehall legend Bogle, set to leave his mark on the dance culture and the 90s fashion and style that continues to inspire and draw the attention from people all over the world..

JESSE I has been hosting and selecting at dancehall parties in Melbourne since 2000, and for most of that decade he was Australia's biggest importer of Jamaican dancehall vinyl records. His complete knowledge of 00s dancehall makes him the perfect person to cover this era - everything from the firebrand Rastas Sizzla and Capleton and legends like Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, through to the rise of Vybz Kartel, Mavado, and Busy Signal.

SO FIRE has been showcasing dancehall through I love dancehall for the past 10 years and as such will be showcasing the biggest riddims, tunes and artists that have blown up the dance floor in this decade. From the absolute domination of Vybz Katel as the omnipresent King of dancehall, to the new guard sounds of Popcaan, Alkaline, Aidonia, Konshens, Spice.

MEXE plays up to di time dancehall, blended with the current sounds of Afrobeats and Afro Dancehall. Always keeping the party bumping late into the night.
