Dancehall King & Queen Competition

Enter the fierce and flamboyant world of the Dancehall Queen and King competition.

Watch dancers from all over Australia battle it out to win the crowns, and for the queen, the chance to fly to Jamaica to represent Australia in the International Dancehall Queen competition.

Dancehall music, dance and culture originates from the beautiful Carribean island of Jamaica. Dancehall has a distinctive personality, that exudes confidence, creativity, raw power and attitude. Often regarded as the 'Mother' of Hip Hop,its raw creative energy has been embraced and emulated globally, with dancehall cultural industries thriving in Japan, Europe and the USA.

The Australian DHQK competition, is run in association with the International dancehall Queen competition and Jamaicas premier dance school DanceJa.

Dancers of all genres are invited to test their skills in the style of Dancehall and compete for the title of DHQ and DHK Australia!

The competition will be judged by guest dancers direct from Jamaica - Latonya Style, Kimiko Verstile and Zidan Xqlusiv.

Djs Jesse I, Zare Demus and So Fire will be bringing you the best dancehall from all eras to keep the party going till late.

There will be dance show cases from all guest judges, plus a showcase by Stacy Letrice aka Jukeboxx from Chicago and the Jungle City Dancers.

Doors open at 10 and the competition starts at 11 sharp. So don't be late.
